To unlock a candidate configuration that is locked, you would use the command designed to release exclusive access to that configuration. The correct choice involves the use of the "configure exclusive release" command, which effectively signals that you are done with the current configuration session and allows other users to gain access to the locked candidate configuration.

Locking a configuration often occurs when a user is actively making changes, which prevents others from modifying it simultaneously to avoid conflicting changes. Releasing this lock through the exclusive release command enables collaborative or subsequent configurations without requiring an administrator to forcibly terminate the session, ensuring proper management and integrity of the configuration system.

Other options do not accurately represent the process for unlocking; for example, "configure unlock" lacks the necessary context of a configuration command specifically tied to a session lock, while "configure release" does not specify that the release is for an exclusive session. "Exit" merely exits the configuration mode but does not address unlocking a candidate configuration.
